Well Guy's she is alive and flying I did the first flight today in front of my house, there is not much space to move but I was able to hover it and make some minor adjustment. The first thing I notice I forgot to verify the CG and it was tail heavy I add to put full forward trim .

I add my son take a video of it, don't be to hard with me that video as no sound and the quality is not very good because I don't owned a video camera, it was taken with my Fujifilm camera.

I will be going to the field tomorrow to do more test flight.

Re: Scratch build Ch-149 Cormorant

Congratulations, probably the most amazing accomplishment is the short time frame from your first posting (02-23-09) to first flight, about 8 months! And so much built from scratch , that's awesome!. Can't wait to see the painted model completed.

Re: Scratch build Ch-149 Cormorant

Last weekend I went to the club for a bit of flying, to see that everything was ok and to adjust the mechanic for some forward flight. After a couple of minutes hovering I add a big glitch on the tail rotor so I landed to have a look at it everything was looking ok so I fired it up for a second try. I said to my self maybe the motor was 4 stroking and that all is ok to go. it was not the case a soon that I spoul up it gave me 3 hit and the last one was bad the machine rotated 90 deg, I was lucky I was very close to the ground. After some more investigation I notice the the JR 8900G servo add barely holding power on it I could turn the servo horn whit my hand with hardly any force.

Today I replaced the 8900G for a good old Futaba 9252, if it is not to cold tomorrow I will try it out .
On a other note when I was working on it to replace the Servo I decided to have the back ramp functional her is a picture of it with the back door out.

Re: Scratch build Ch-149 Cormorant

Hi guy's I did not have much time to work on the CH-149 because of my work, but this weekend I took the time to make the turbines inlet 3 of them. I decided to vacuum form them out of plastic, so here is the result.

I have the plug for the horizontal fin made it just kneed to add some details to it and after build the mold for it.
