Its time for the 2nd annual Calgary IMAC (scale aerobatic) Stampede! It’s being held at the CRAMS field in Calgary, Alberta on July 11 and 12, 2009. This scale aerobatic contest is part of the new Alberta regional championship series for scale aerobatic (IMAC) flying in Alberta. This contest is limited to Basic, Sportsman and Intermediate classes only but we will also be holding an optional Freestyle round on Sunday for those QQ wannabes!! This is an excellent chance to try IMAC and learn what fun competition is all about! The Basic class maneuvers are straight forward but when you try to fly them with precision and with straight, wind corrected lines they become a bit more challenging! A round of Unknowns will be flown by all classes (except for Basic) on Sunday morning.

We have prize sponsors such as Smart-fly and several of the local Hobby shops. There will be a nice selection of prizes and pilot raffle items to be given away! The unique trophies are available for first through third in all classes including an optional freestyle round on Sunday. BBQ lunch will be available for Saturday and on Sunday morning at 8:30 we will carry on the tradition of the FREE Stampede pancake breakfast for all pilots and spectators! Pilots meeting both days at 9:00 and we will be in the air at 9:30 am.

If you are interested please try to pre-register (if you are an IMAC member) or get in touch with the contest director Gordon Wilhelm at gvwilhelm@hotmail.com to let him know that you will be attending. Entry fee is $25 dollars. Please note that it is free for all first time Basic pilots and as well there will be a $10 dollar discount for all IMAC members. MAAC (or AMA) membership and insurance is mandatory. Dry camping is available at the field but please contact the CD to prearrange.
FAQ

* You do not have to be an IMAC member to compete.
* You do not have to fly a giant scale gasser to compete (there is no size restriction, large or small in IMAC)
* You can fly any type of plane in Basic (above the Basic class you must fly a scale model of an aerobatic plane that has (or could) compete in full scale aerobatic competition.
