Out of 2 Arf's the Carbon fibre gear has delaminated. The Gear from this one has broken badly. I did not have a hard landing. In fact the landing that caused all the damage could not have been softer. I really enjoy this plane, as far as I am concerened it is one of the best planes of this size produced.

The first arf I had the landing gear did not last more than 10 flights. This is a known problem and Horizon Hobby sent me Aluminum replacement gear free of charge. The aluminum gear is heavier however so I may just order some quality gear from TNT. Considering I bought the arf unbuilt but not from my sponsor store I do not expect anything but a response. I will post any info from Horizon I get.

Extra 260 27 %

Well mine delaminated on the first landing.

I had mine fibergalssed and it has been fine ever since.

The landing gear of carbon fibre is trash.

I think the DA 50 is too much for this plane as it flies a little heavy .

I think a Saito 180 at 11 1/2 lbs. would be more suitable/
I\ll try one when I find one..(180 ) The 220 is too heavy ??

I had a Saito 220 on mine. Great motor, excellent quality. But with my DA-50 I have more fun , more speed...not over power.
But about the fiber landing gear , this is an amazing ----. It broke after 5 cool landing and I had to reenforce it with alluminium plates. Hillmanr2, Did you say they will replace it for free? I'm pretty sure that they will receive back a lot of them !!! I will send back mine right away. Thanks ! Paul

It never ceases to amaze me at how a big, well respected company can continue to make the same mistake over and over.
They have been having problems with the carbon gear on several previous models.
I had the 1/3 edge, and it was the same thing.

What really gets me is that they sound so surprised when you tell them you have problems...and you know that hundreds of others are complaining as well.

Thats more or less what I said in my email.

Yes last time they sent me the aluminum gear free of charge, but I had my LHS deal with it on the first one.
