Habu II upgrade

Well, after bending my original foam Habu, several times, I finally damaged it to the point that I had to replace the fuselage. I soon learned that you cannot buy a replacement fuse anymore for the original. However, they do sell the bare airframe as the Habu II for $100.00. SO after two weeks, it arrived and I was pleasantly surprised at the contents of the big box. Plus, the foam is white, not that dirty grey colour.

Buy the E-Flite electric retracts, they actually do fall into place as advertised, and the nose gear steering linkage does fit. Or, you can use the included fixed landing gear, the wire is thicker than the original. Or, they provide the covers if you want to have it as a hand launch/belly lander. As I said, this is a very complete replacement airframe.

The Habu II is flap ready, just add two more servos, they provide the linkage and control horn as well.

After one short afternoon and evening assembly plus a little spray painting, the model is coming together. I am using Krylon Fusion paint and I make my own decals on the old computer. I'm using water based silicone sealant to hold the servos in place so there is some down time while that cures, that really is the only thing that is slowing me down.

Anyway, today it's raining on and off so I won't be going to the fun fly, I'll get the wing servos installed and hooked up, the plane should then be ready.

Come down the 401 for a drive, the online store stock says Mississauga has 4. I saw all of them there last week.

which store Daren? I just went to Great Hobbies and they say they have none and back-ordered one for me. Are you perhaps referring to Hobby Hobby ?

Hi John, yeah sorry I was referring to the BNF version. I had stopped into the store after taking my nephew to our field, and saw them stacked up inside the Mississauga store.

I guess the airframe only versions are still hard to get/backordered.

They are now on Horizon Hobby website - on backorder . Any associated LHS should be able to place an order. I placed mine at Great Hobbies - as I was there. No idea what delivery date will be

also, 100 is HH price - we can expect another 10 or so for shipping overhead.

cheers
john
