Attaching flying lines

I needed to attach some (non-functional) flying lines to the rudder and stab of my Aeronca Champ. These would run from a cleat on the bottom edge of the fuse, up through the stab, through the rudder, down through the stab on the opposite side, and then to a cleat on the opposite side of the fuse. Not wanting to use large fittings, I decided to try something from my fishing tackle box.

They are called No-Knot ties and are available (as far as I know) only by direct mail order from "Capt. Bob White; 7 Guilford; Montgomery, IL 60538." $3.75 per pack of 10, shipping included. There are two sizes: 2-10 pound test and 5-50 pound test (same price); I used the smaller ones. After using them, I coated them with clear-drying canopy glue, and they look great. I suppose you could try to make your own, but why bother? Here's how they work:
