Steve,
there is no fussing with nuts here!
I have brass bushings in the side panels' boreholes and M3 nuts which have a little collar pressed and glued into the inner holes of the brackets! So they stay where they are and I just screw on the four brackets with M3 hexagon socket screws through the side panels and into the collar-nuts.
Because of the brass bushings there is no risk the brackets get slimmer each time you put them on.....
Please, do rethink the engine/MR drive solution! See also what Nigel found out about this issue.

Cheers
Tilmann

Re: GTM 1/3 Fokker D-7

Steve My lower wing is split, so there are 2 tubes for the lower wing. Both are connected by a new part laser cut to look like the mounting bracket from the outside. I have not taken a picture of it recently, but here is the partly uncovered wing with the attachments on.

Only one sided and the bolts fit right through into the stainless plate which has been tapped to receive the bolts.

Hope that explains . . . .

Today I have been setting up the cable runs for the tail feathers. Everything working well and the modified wing setup permits fitting the servos in the front of the model routed under the cockpit floor and outward from cable guide at the back. Took a while to work out but I think it's the best I can do with what I have.

Nigel

Re: GTM 1/3 Fokker D-7

Steve, I don't know much about the Mick Reeves system, you will need to wait for Tilmann to comment on how good that is!

I have stripped everything down to fit the brace under the pilots seat so when I have the brass guide tubes in and everything adjusted I will take a picture. Its only cottlon I am using at the moment but it will change into wire before I cover the fuselage in the next month or so.

Got the Hebel Flare Gun back from the printers today produced by SLS in nylon like the Spandau guns. It hangs from the wing on my subject so it's very visible. Spent 2 hours sanding the wooden pistol grips! I must be mad !

Later . . .

Ha..were all mad Nigel we must be,but its great isn't it . Those aren't great numbers on the redrive, they're not bad but I'm not happy with the setup so I'm looking at a 120 cc inline 4 stroke .

Re: GTM 1/3 Fokker D-7

Its a Valach 120 I2 4t. Here's a video link. Its quite long but a cool video showing different exhaust options.my only concern was that the exhaust ports are on the wrong side when mounted upright so I'll have to run the headers and flex tubes downward to exit the bottom of the fuse...

Re: GTM 1/3 Fokker D-7

Steve,
the MR drive issues are discussed in the UK for a long time. But I see you've changed your mind anyway. So further hints seem to be obsolete.
I had the 120 Valach in-line in mind too but it was released too late for my schedule of building the DVII. At the time Valach even was out of market before they were bought by investors.
You just should consider 32x12 versus 34x20 in prop size and 2500 Euros versus 800 Euros in price .
But as you said: we ARE mad, aren't we.....

Tilmann
