Sigh... had to order another roll of red and some more striping tape. Ran out with the rudder, elevator, and ailerons left to cover.

Re: What size engine? (Started Komander build... finally)

For orientation I always found starburst the worst ,you can see the plane fine you just cant tell how much your banking in some light conditions . my 3d hobby shop edge is starburst and I am going to have to strip it off this winter, it's like a illusion when in a bank your eyes sometimes follow the wrong lines making you think it's banking more or less then it actually is . a bit unnerving . I find the best wing marking are straight stripes ,one direction on top and opposite on bottom . They don't look the best but much more functional . good job on the covering though .cheers Roger

That's probably an individual thing. I've never had a problem with the starburst pattern, but I have had others say it wasn't for them. Like everything out there, a personal preference and whatever works best for you. I do have some boring straight stripes on the bottom though

Actually, I'll agree with one major disadvantage of a starburst scheme, covering and trimming the control surfaces is a huge pain in the ass. One aileron to go.

I like it too! You have lots of contrast between top and bottom, it will work.

Love it too. I have the starburst scheme on my GP Cub and have no issues with orientation at all. Good job Dave.

Re: What size engine? (Started Komander build... finally)

I've been out of action for a bit as I finally had my weight loss surgery, so time to get back to the final details with the radio installation.

My pilot finally arrived today too!

Re: What size engine? (Started Komander build... finally)

Really been dragging my butt with this thing but it FINALLY had its maiden voyage today. A few glitches with reliability on the engine quickly solved but it takes off at half throttle. Puttering around at half throttle, it flies very leisurely like an apprentice witch is nice as I haven't flown a plane for 25 years. I do have to try a larger diameter, lower pitch prop though as with the 11x7 on there now, it doesn't want to slow down.
