Make a paper template of the pattern, trace on to a scrap piece of monokote or other covering. Cut out one or as many as you want. Place on the blister gentle rub for friction fit, trace with marker pen on the liquid mask then hand cut each with the #11 knife. Start on the bottom of the cowl for practice the good ones will then be on top. Any differences from tracing/cutting will be so small nobody will even notice. In the end it all comes down to practice the more you do the better you get at it.
Or you could go to a vinyl shop and have them cut a bunch of patterns for you. I am in that business and frankly with my minimum setup/cut charge I can't afford myself so I do it the cheap er... inexpensive way described above.

Thanks ByronF. That makes a lot of sense! I have used vinyl lettering in the past and get it done quite inexpensively at Field's in Buffalo. But I don't want to use it here as I would have to colour match the rest of the trim to the vinyl colour and I don't want two shades of blue. I will be ordering stencils from Getstencils.com who make them quite inexpensively. Lettering and the other designs on the fuse and wheel pants should be quite easy to do. But the blisters on the cowl are difficult and I question whether the stencil will fit tightly enough to stop bleeding.
So I've made up my mind to go with stencils for most of the aircraft emblems and to try the liquid mask on the cowl. I will order the stencils for the cowl anyway, and if they work I'm laughing. If not I may be able to use a combination of the two!!
