X-mas comes early
Hey guys
-I bought myself a jet on sunday(BVM F-86F Saber) -Told the wife I might go with a turbine -was divorced all in the same day I got a wicked deal on it, new in box for 500 dollars Need to do some thinking on wether to go with d-fan or turbine$$$ Anyway I may have alot of question to ask over the next year. I'm sure Peter will take good care of me if I decide to go with a turbine$$$ Will be looking for some BVM gear over the next few months. I'm still in shock Dan |

For $500 I am guessing it's the original BVM saber? Lots of work on those ones, and I don't know if BV's turbine install kit will fit into that one. Everything can be made to work, but it will be tricky. My personal opinion is if you can find a fan, despite the pain in the butt that fans can be, build that kit in DF form. If you want to go turbine look for something else. The F86 with turbine is heavy and although they fly very well from all I've seen and heard I don't know that it would be a great first turbine aircraft. If you really want to do it up as a turbine model then as Nony says, there are lots of other bits to spend money on, you'll spend as much or more for a turbine install kit including tanks and tailpipe as you did on the kit itself. My advice would be if you want to build it turbine, buy your engine first (suggest PST600R) and then before you touch the F86, buy a BTE Reaction 54 and build and fly the crap out of it while you build the F86. It will get you familiar with the systems as well as turbine flight. Anyway, lots of luck and remember that the only stupid question is the one you don't ask!

I'm pretty sure that is the very first ones yes. I think it had a 1 piece wing instead of plug in correct? It's certainly do-able as a turbine version, I just think there are better choices for a first turbine jet out there that would offer you better success. Keep checking ebay, I've seen a few Viojett systems and BVM 91's sell cheap on there lately. You will need the viojett system for that jet, the Dynamax is to big of a diameter.
