Battery Charging questions

I have a 14.8V Battery at 2800 mAH, and I have a triton EQ charger. I set the charger to 14.8V and set the mAH to 2800. When I press start on the charger, the volts change to 15.56 and will not stay there, it continously rises. Please if someone could tell me if this is acceptable or if I should stop charging and somehow fix my proble that would be great. Also, sorry for not searching I just have limited time.

Thank you.

Re: Battery Charging questions

If its a 4s lipo you are charging, then fully charged it should be 16.8V. That's 4.20/cell.

Re: Battery Charging questions

Ok, thanks. It is a first time charge so I was kind of freaked when the Volts went up to 15 automatically. It also stopped right at 16.8V. I still don't trust these damn lipos worth anything. I had it in an ammo box with a metal lid and fire extinguisher right at the ready lol.

Re: Battery Charging questions

Better safe than sorry but once you understand the procedures for charging there is no reason to feel like you are charging a bomb in your basement.

Keep an eye on things while charging but don't get to paranoid.

Re: Battery Charging questions

Yes I made sure that the charger said slow charge and balance before i started the charge. I am just a bit new and don't really understand fully some of the lipo stuff yet. I have been flying sim for a couple years but only now am getting into real flying. Thanks all for the help and information. I am now going to maiden my brand new yak 54 Wish me luck! Soon to post a maiden video!

Re: Battery Charging questions

Well, I figured I was going to start a new thread on my maiden, but decided to put it here instead. Anyone know how to change the title of a thread? Thanks. Oh and here is the video! Enjoy, even though there is no 3D...yet!

Re: Battery Charging questions

Good maiden - obviously your sim work has paid off. . . . I plan to maiden my first real electric (I have been flying for close to 30 years) this week (also a 4C battery) so hopefully I will do as well. . . Cheers

Congrats on your first maiden.

But what is with the camera? I have never had to watch a video that looked like I was peering through a slit in youtube. Is that normal for that type of camera, or is it one of those "landscape-portrait" type of things where if you rotate the camera it rotates the picture?? If so, you need to turn it 90deg..
