Got the instrument panels done and glued in with epoxy. After a final sand, I masked off the edge of the balsa hatch where the canopy will be glued to and sprayed it with the textured paint.

The pilot gets glued on tomorrow

Jim... I hope that crazy arresti doesn't confuse the communication between you and "YAKOV" in the pilot's seat

Trev,

Why do you think "Yakov" got a gold visor?

"Yakov" use the FORCE!

If you fly an Extra or an Edge you are on the "Dark Side"!

Here's Yakov in place. Good old Goop did the trick.

Jim... he's in there for good now, so you'd better be gentle with him! No turning back for this guy

Last picture shows the 1/8" balsa plate I inlaid in the bottom of the pilot for more surface area duing gluing. Those aren't gaps... that's black Goop that I used (no reason, for the black, just what was close!)

Trev,

Once you get the canopy glued on and the hatch covered, it will be interesting to see what the weight turned out to be vs your 35% Extra.

yeah can you also check to see if the Canopy Helmut for your 330 will fit on the Yak> Caroline seemed to think it would, but I don't know.

Hi Trevor
I am a big fan of Goop glue too but be careful when using it on Depron foam. The Goop heats Depron.

Thanks Daniel... I'll keep that in mind! I would never have thought it would cause a problem on Depron (strange, considering it's fine on regular foam) Thanks for the tip.

No where close Jim! The canopy on this Yak is absolutely massive. Considering the thickness of the canopy, no wonder these Yak's are coming in the 28-29 lb mark.

This Yak makes it look like my Carden Patty is a 27%

Re: 32.5% Carden Baby Yak - BBT! - Build Thread

For kicks, I put the Yak beside my Patty. Considering the Yak doesn't have any wheels on it (add 2" more to the height), this thing is massive!

Contrary to the pictures, beleive it or not, it is also wider than Patty. I think it is an optical illusion due to the longer fuse and the round profile.

The rudder is also taller and much longer.

This is going to be a big plane!

Cheers

Trev
