Filler Product For Pin Holes in Glass Parts?
Just curious what's out there for filling pin holes and such in glass cowls, wheel pants etc...?
I have used Bondo but is there something better, easier to work with and sand? Thanks Jonathan

Another way is to spray a heavy coat of primer on the area that has pin holes, let sit for a few seconds to dry, take your finger and rub the primer into the pin holes. You might have to do this a couple of times. Your parts will look very messey but sand the parts with 320, soap and warm water. I would give the parts a final spray of primer and sand with 400, soap and water. Wash the parts real well and then clean with rubbing alchol, use a tack rag and clean with alchol again. Glass parts are a real pain in the butt, not too bad if they are primed in the mould. Ken |

I use spackle a lot on wood since it sands very easy.
Does it stick to glass OK?

Re: Filler Product For Pin Holes in Glass Parts?
I've used "FILLER PRIMER" when working on my Corvette (fiberglass) to help fill in fine holes, lines, etc... and sand down as described in a previous post. The "FILLER PRIMR" is a thicker primer compared to standard primer and I think maybe there are a couple thicknesses to choose from ------ haven't used it for about 8 years so things may have changed as far as the choices.
When I still find a few spots after doing the primer stages, I use a good quality "GLAZE PUTTY". I get the better stuff at a body/paint supply place rather than the Canadian Tire product. It's like bondo, but very fine/thin (in a tube or small can) and drys quickly to be able to sand with fine wet sandpaper. If the primer/wet sanding method works, then you don't have to do the glazing putty step. Hope this helps.

Re: Filler Product For Pin Holes in Glass Parts?
Years ago, when I still did a lot of building, as opposed to ARF assembly I used DuPont 30S which is a primer filler used specifically in the automotive refinishing industry. I'd use it on all of my fibreglass parts (fuse, pants and cowlings, etc).

Re: Filler Product For Pin Holes in Glass Parts?
Thanks for the replys guys.
I got some of this to try today, no mixing req'd. So I tried it out and it's easy to sand and it goes on nice too.
