"Fixing" servo screws

I read somewhere that you can fix the servo screw (that holds the arm onto the servo spindle) so that the screw won't unscrew.

Was it a dollop of epoxy? silcone (like caulking)? Can't remember.

Anyone?

I have never had a screw come loose on either a metal or plastic arm,but then I check them for tightness often as part of normal maintainance.
If I was worried about it I would use a drop of blue (not red!)loctitewhich you can get at C Tire

blue loctite (on label in BIG letters): do not use on plastic.

The servo arm I removed (bought the bird used) had a rubbery dot of what looked like silicone sealant on the screw/arm (it's the sliding type of servo arm rather than one piece).

Maybe I'm just being over cautious here.

Hitec's Mike Mayberry very strongly recommends against any threadlocker on plastic, Especially on their "carbonite" gears I believe.

If in doubt, change it out! For a fixed length arm.

If you are talking about locking the sliding part then I would say a dalop of silicone.

"Fixing" servo screws

I have read in Model Airplane, that you can split the servo spindle, re-attach the servo arm, and them use the next size screw to fasten the arm. The larger screw will spread the servo out and make better contact with the arm, and thread into the spindle better.
Cheers............Mikee

Used a tiny bit of Cyano...OR a bigger screw - the servo O/P arm is toast anyway(if stripped)

no, there is nothing wrong with the present equipment. I only inquired because the "original" owner had sealed it (I presume so it wouldn't unscrew).

I've never had one come loose but I figgered if someone had a good idea . . . . .
