Hi guys its Mike and I’m in the midst of finishing off a multi year project I’ve been working on. I am finally at the stage of adding one more paint colour for the gorgeous Canadian Coast Guard DC3. Once the red goes on I’ve got just flat black to add to the nose section of the plane. What I’m wondering is what was used to pull the plane around at the field or out of the hanger. I thought I would build myself a tug to tow the plane around the field. The plane is rather large at a wingspan of 106.9" and a fuselage length of 70.5" and running twin NGH GT17cc gas engines, with 15 Digital Spektrum servos for throttle, choke, ailerons, elevator, flaps, rudder and electric retracts.

Do you know what was used to tow the aircraft? I can’t find one picture of the plane actually being towed by anything. If you have any ideas, pictures or a web site I can go to please forward to me thru here or by private message.

Here are a few picture of the plane Im talking about needing the tug for.

Re: 1/11th Scale DC3 and need advice and help.

Hi Frank Im hoping to have it up in a few weeks, was trying to get done this season but I was involved in a hit & run in my wheelchair. Had a guy in a 4x4 run into me and then took off. Had a guy ask the size and i thought the beer bottles would give him a great idea of the size of it . this is what its going to look like when done Frank'

Your model looks great!

Found these two pictures for you with quick Web.

It will be difficult to make a tug that would pull a model on grass fields. I built a tug for my Connie n Concorde models but for on road tows.

Let me know if you need any photos of the real one, -FDTH is parked 2 blocks from my house. She gave up her registration to an L-188 Electra, but she's still here and in the same colors. Was last operated by the D.O.T. before Joe added her to his collection. I'll try to pop over and take some pics of his tugs for you.

Thanks Jon, if not to much to ask for I would love some pictures of the real one in the original colours. Ive done research and I thought they were bought by a small airline that had a tv shouw and were all refinished. I have only been going by the few pictures I could find in airliners.net. I would also really love pictures of the tugs he uses to tow them around as well

Need to mount, mark and cut cowls to go around muffler to exit thru the cowl with as little cutting as possible.
