To get that sort of quality, and accurate work, I would need to do it 3 or 4 times, and likely still not get it right. For sheet metal I get used litho plates from a print shop.

Re: Deitchman 1/3 Fokker EII

Thanks guys! I also have used litho plate, its just so hard to get ahold of these days! As the EII would have required nose weight, I went with aluminum sheet. As it turns out the initial balance was slightly nose heavy. I would say it took me 2.5 hours to stitch the leather onto the aluminum. It was my first try and I was satisfied with the results.

Re: Deitchman 1/3 Fokker EII

Spring seems to be getting in the way of finishing this project.....I was able to make all the mounting plates for the Rx, regulator, batteries and Smart Fly ignition opti-kill. I also set up all the fuel lines. The Fromeco Wolverine has also been mounted. The leather work is also finished.

What would we do without zip-ties? I use one to hold lipo in my gliders--no more velcro letting go, and the battery smashing the canopy.

Re: Deitchman 1/3 Fokker EII

The big day was yesterday....... It flew great! I did a fast taxi run and at about 1/4 throttle the Eindecker was becoming very light......... I taxied back and rolled on the power and it took off at just above 1/4 throttle. As soon as it rotated I could tell that it was going to be an amazing flying model as very little trim was needed to maintain straight and level flight. All control surfaces were positive and all basic WW1 maneuvers were completed with ease. I will now complete the side cowl cheeks and add some more detail such as weathering etc.

That sounds great Scott, last i talked with you,we agreed it was going to be a smoothee.Looks like another German aircraft for the fleet!!!!I attended Castle ,California,Atwater giant scale saturday and sunday, what a hoot..250 pilots, 400 giant scale planes, motorhomes and trailers as far as you can see...pure modelers heaven..Maybe in upcoming years we attend together,,pictures to follow when i get back...enough of that!!Look forward to seeing your plane fly....have a good one.
