From what I heard, all the types of Goop, household, automotive, marine, whatever, are all the same. Only the name is different, it's a marketing strategy!

Rc Man,how much time do you spend on this forum. I told you that RC 56 is the stuff to hold on canopies. Just kidding. I sent you a couple of "e's" but you didn't respond. Bob Barrow

When you apply the goop for gluing the canopy, are you cutting a thin section away from the covering to get a glastic/wood bond? Or are you gluing it to the covering?

Hi Peter
We glue the canopy directly to the balsa hatch with GOOP (see the pic). It is not necessary to roughen up the inside of the canopy plastic (we also use the GOOG to glue our wooden cowl rings to the fiberglass cowl - hence the pic of the GOOP inside the cowl ) After the GOOP is dry we cover the hatch. The covering overlaps the canopy by about 1/4".The section between the canopy and the cowl is fully covered with Ultracote ( or Monokote) The canopy is taped off such that you leave an area around the perimiter of the canopy that gets completely painted. This dresses up the canopy nicely. We then paint the canopy / hatch area and the cowl at the same time. Using htis method the cowl / hatch / canopy (perimiter) is all painted and the color is a perfect match all the way back to the turtle deck. Turns out nice See it here http://members.rogers.com/rcflier.co...ed2/br2-03.jpg Hope this helps, Bob
