Has anyone out there ever change the lithium battery in the Futaba 9 ZAP Tx? If so, did you have any problems?

I just have mine replaced about every 4 years, just send it back to Futaba service, its very painless.

I would not recommend doing this yourself.

Have you had any problems with Canadian Customs getting it back?

Not usually, you may get taxed on the value of the repair but that would not be much. Most of the time repairs just sail right through customs. Ay problems I have had has been on new stuff.

Casper,

Just make sure in your letter to Futaba, or any other US reapir depot, that you ask them to make sure they fill out the return customs papers to indicate that the item is being returned to you after having been repaired and that it is used and not new. They also mus put the value of the service work done.. parts and labour.

By the way make sure that you put a similar statemnet on your paper work for the shipment going down to the US. Something like..."Unit being sent to US Repair Depot for repair and return to Canada."

We ship stuff back and forth to ur distrubutors in the US and things only get hung up if the paper work is not filled out or no description is given.

What ever you do don't let them send it back to by UPS! UPS will charge you a kings ransom for clearing the shipment. Insist on USPS. If it gets caught up in the customs clearing thing then at least you only pay Canada Post a $5.00 processing fee + GST and PST on the service work.

I thought there was a Canadian Futaba Service Depot?

Jim

There used to be a service facility in Canada for Futaba (the name escapes me at the moment) but since the aquisition of distribution for Futaba North America's RC division by Hobbico, all authorized factory service is done through Hobby Services. I dont think that Radio South is an authorized center anymore, but I may be incorrect on that.

Anyways I have been using the new Futaba service for the past couple of years, I find their service to be excellent. I have some friends who have also sent down equipment for service and were quite pleased with what they got.

Hobby Services will only ship USPS to Canada, through my sponsorship with Futaba I have made that clear on more than one occasion They dont ship UPS up here anymore unless you ask I suppose.

Morning All

Do you remember "Udisco" in Montreal?

I certainly agree with advice given by previous posters.

This spring I had a 9Z TX and a dozen servos serviced. I had mine returned to me by US Postal Airmail and it was delivered to my door, this time.
