field charging options

I'm considering to buy a field charger for my 4.8V NiCd receiver battery. The Hobbico MK2 looks perfect but it is an overkill for me in terms of price and functionality.

Does anyone here know of some cheaper options for quick field charging?

Thanks a lot!

I'm not sure about Hobbico equipment but there are a lot of folks at my local field using Double visions with great success....
Charges both RX and TX at the same time.... also does your ignitor....

I have a pair of the HObbico quick field chargers. I like them and they are about the cheapest you can get I think for a peak charger that does both tranny and receiver (both 4 and 5 cell packs).

If you have a good heavy duty field battery you can also think about getting a power converter (like they sell at Canadian tire) and then you can use any charger that runs on 120 vac as well. I use an accucycle plus and an astroflight charger as well as my two QFC's for all my charging needs at the field or at home.

I have great luck with the Hobbico MarkII. Easy to use, it will tell you if you have the polarity reversed, (and it won't go into charge mode either). You can charge both receiver and transmitter at the same time.

Also you can charge nicads nimh, and lithiums, without worry. The cost for the units is about $80 or so. I can't say enough about the product
