I am covering a 60 size Corsair and am having problems. The A/C had been formerly covered with fabric, which I have removed and am now using ultracote Corsair blue..multi-temp shrink covering. Problem is that the adhesive is sticking to the iron and marking the covering to such an extent that I cannot carry on. Have tried a sock ,and it too is picking up the adhesive. I cannot remove the adhesive from the covering with acetone or alcohol...............Any suggestions??

Break out the sand paper and sanding block.

Not to be rude, but are you certain you are not ironing on the adhesive coated side? When I've spaced out and forgotten which side of the peice of covering I'm working with is the sticky side I touch it with the iron, the sticky side...well it sticks, the other will not.

"Balsarite" can be painted on over the wood to enhance the adhesive properties of the covering as well.

I'll add to the recommendation of Balsarite. I just finished recovering my Diamond Dust. Most of the wood structure had seen some fuel at some point, and really needed something to help the new covering stick. I've had a can of Balsarite for some years now. It's consistancy has turned to jelly, but a little acetone thinned it nicely, and once painted on the exposed wood, worked a treat.

i ve found that laquer thinner will remove those adhesive markings without hurting the covering
