Adjusting Blade Angle

Hi murp,

I will check to see my blade angle at the positions you mentioned. I am borrowing a angle meter from a guy at work, i will check tomorrow after work and let you know what my angles are. I basically set my blade angle flat at zero throttle on normal mode. Hopefully, after checking it more accurately it will show my angle is too low at higher pitch. I will let you know what I find tomorrow and thanks for the suggestions.

I used to fly mine in IDLEUP - so I don't remember if the Blade is supposed to have negative pitch/zero pitch/ or positive pitch at zero throttle or not. Typically you would setup normal mode to have -2 degrees pitch to +10 pitch from the lowest stick position to the highest.

I think you should be getting close to 10 degrees positive pitch at the top stick position. If you are and it still won't lift off then it is not building up enough headspeed - which would mean your motor may be on the way out. I suppose it could also be something with your TX (less likely though), is there another Tx you could try?

BTW, if you have a protractor you can use it to measure your angle. Just hold it so that the bottom of the protractor lines up with the flybar and sight down the blade - you can get pretty close this way with a steady hand. I never needed to use a pitch gauge for this little guy - eyeballing it is all you need to do.

Cheers,

murp

Update

Just an update on my problem.

I bought a new main motor to try and solve my problem of no lift. Unfortunately, it did not fix the problem. My next step is to try a 3 cell lipo. I will let you know on my findings when they come about. Thanks.

Finally Fixed!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well I finally got my heli flying last night.

I borrowed a 3 cell lipo from a guy to try out. The 3 cell lipo worked after a slight adjustment of the blade angle. I'm offto the races to learn how to fly helicopters which is no easy task.

Thank you everyone for all your input and thank you RCCanada for an awesome site.

Sincerely,

JetCrazy

The 3 cell over the 2 cel lipo is a world of difference in head speed power

I have the CP Pro which comes with the three cell. I can't see using it with anything less. CP Pro seems virtually identical to the vanilla CP other than using a lipo and symmetrical blades. Motors are the same.
I'd recommend getting the E-Flite pack for the CP Pro along with the E-Flite balancer/charger. I couldn't find any other brands with a suitable size and weight.

I've been learning how to fly my CP Pro in my basement. Probably not the best idea but there's no indoor places close by.
