Yeah I thought of that piece of wood thing but passed it off as being a little goofy, I guess not! I threw some of the small ones in the van today and went to the field. It was a beautiful morning. No one was there so I went home.

Sounds like the club I used to belong to, so many rules and politics no one goes there anymore.

Re: A Couple of Old Heli's

Just found this dead thread so I'd thought I would include this. I'm about to chuck out my old Shuttle and all the bits to it. Have the air bag practice gear. This was what got me into the hobby. Video from the days.

Yup... that's what got me started around 1989.

Re: A Couple of Old Heli's

My first heli was the original blue canopied Shuttle in 1986. man-o-man have we come a long way. My current Century Hawk Pro with the OS-37SXH performs better then my 60 powered Schluter Superior and Champion or even my first X-Cell 60.

Mine was the green one. No gyro, no heli radio. I built a mechanical mixing system on the heli from the collective to work the tail along with the servo. Then upgraded to a os32, proper gyro, better head and bearings. Then it became one of the first fpv craft.

Re: A Couple of Old Heli's

Mine was the green canopy, Futaba mechanical gyro, futaba 7ch computer radio, OS32. Still the short tail boom and above flybar head. Later on I had what I think was the ZX with new head, longer boom, longer blades, and a tuned exhaust 0.40. That thing was a rocket.

that's exactly why I'm not a member of a club anymore

I have the chance to have access to a very large private field behind my parent's country house and I can fly there.. a lot better than having to deal with club rules..
