Clarification would be greatly appreciated since I thought the number of parralell packs x capacity gave the total capacity.
I'm not good at this 2s 2p stuff.

To clarify this.

1, I am using 4 Makita cells for the TX.
They are 1500 ma each and the nominal voltage for each cell is 3.6 volts.

2. The 2 packs consisting of 2 cells in each pack are in parallel.

3. That theoretically gives me a 3000 ma pack at a nominal voltage of 7.2 volts which is perfect for the Royal Evo TX. It needs the extra capacity due to the synthesizer and the scanner that are installed in it.

It is unlikely that the 2900 ma Molicels will fit into anyones tx with the possible exception of the older Multiplex "Pizza box" transmitters like the 30 30 and 4000 series.

I bought them from a friend. I won't likely get any more unless I buy them at Home Depot or a tool place that sells Rigid batteries.

I had to take the packs apart to get the cells out.
It was a tedious job and I had to use a dremel cut off wheel to get them out.
Other tools required were pliers, a security torx bit, miniature wire cutters, and a razor saw.

Re: Rigid battery packs

My confusion arose because you started talking about 2900 mah rigid batteries and switched to makita batteries when describing your tx pack.

Smile Re: Lithium Ion battery packs

Ken,
If you are struggling to take them apart I have a solution for you. Put the pack on a plank and use a small axe. Guaranteed something will give. Just some humour for a bad day for me.

Hey John,

Only problem with that solution, is you need to have a damn good aim!!

Otherwise you will really be taking them apart!!

Hope your day gets much better soon!!

Regards,

Dennis

I can get them apart that way but gluing them back together is a nightmare in the making.

They are sometimes a bit difficult mostly because I don't want to damage anything if possible.

Re: Lithium Ion battery packs

Ken,
If you notice there was a smily up in the corner. Was just trying to make some fun and hope nobody takes it wrong. It would be very unsafe that way.
