I don't think you would save that much weight on the fuel reduction. A bare bones battery AA 4 cell battery pack weighs another 3 ounces. A CH ignition module without timing advance adds another 3.87 ounces. Total weight 12.17 ounces which is just over 3/4 lb.

Methanol is probably close to the weight of gasoline. (I didn't want to weigh gasoline in the house) One US oz. of methanol weighs .82 oz.

If you reduce the fuel load by 8 oz .you will save about 6.56 ounces. looks like it will be OK with the added power and cheap to fly.

I think it will be fine in the right plane.

Let's see what the test results are.

Don't forget as the flight progresses the fuel load become less and less an advantage.

When you finally fly with a gas engine the extra cost and weight become something you just calculate into the whole project. This .90 in a .60 size warbird or in something like an acrobatic 68" Velox will be just an amazing plane to show up with at your field. What's new here is the concept of a gas engine showing up where only glow power has ruled.

Where I like the gas power is up to 30 minutes flying time on ten ounces of fuel at 50:1 mix, with little to no clean up. Then when you do need more fuel its just a trip to the corner gas station. Even at just under a $1 a liter plus 2 cycle mix its a bargan.

Don't get me wrong I love the glow too, the sound of a OS 25 turning a 9X4 at 16000 in my combat planes is also an amazing thing.... I guess if it has wings and power I like it.

Hey All,

Got the BME/ST 90 today. Hre's a cople of pics. It comes with the CH ignition and a GIANT ST muffler. I think a Bisson pitts may be in order.

Haven't weighed it yet...I'll post the weight when I get a chance.

I'm also interested in the BME G90 for a Skyshark Edge 540 I just bought,
(64" wing span)
I was originally going to buy a Saito 125 for it, but I'm intrigued by the idea of a 60 size gas airplane!
I'd like to put an inverted Slimline muffler on it ( P/N 2115 )
I think they also make a smoke version of that muffler.
I talked to BME engine yesterday and they said the recommended prop
is a 13x6 or 14x6
I'm Anxious to hear how it runs!

It would be interesting to find a larger head for this thing and fit it in a 60 size heli.

Gasoline and plastics

Maybe this is a dumb question and I’m sorry

But doesn’t gas eat light plastics, would the standard glow gas tank last? Maybe is not an issue with the 50/50 mix

Just my 2¢

The standard gas tanks are fine though they need a gasoline safe stopper. You also cannot use silicone fuel tubbing with gasoline. The gasil mix is likely closer to 50:1 than 50/50.
