Question Gluing horizontal stab in profile plane

Hi folks,

I have an Ohio Model Products YAK 54 65" profile ARF http://www.ohiomodelplanes.com/65yak that I'm in the process of completing.

I've built a number of profiles in the past but all have been .46 sized with a solid balsa fuse.

This ARF has 1/8 plywood sides with white foam in the middle.

Question is what is the best method for gluing the horizontal stab in place? Manual says simply to expoxy or Gorillia glue in place.

Since there is a tight fit between the fuse and the stab wondering what method people have used to glue in place? Does anybody apply glue to the interior of the opening prior to inserting the stab? Will any of the glue remain once the stab is slid in place?

Does anybody pin the stab with small hardwood dowels to secure??

Looking for some ideas here.

Thanks,

GB

Re: Gluing horizontal stab in profile plane

The Gorilla glue will give you the better joint. Why? because it fills gaps and is not as heavy .Mix a tiny spray of water in it ,put it on the stab and slide in place. Use a wet cloth to remove the excess.....its water based

Re: Gluing horizontal stab in profile plane

I usually glue hard balsa triangle strips under the stab and against the fuse, of course the center of most stabs need to have a little wider center section. Kip
