Looking good, except for the plywood former, looks like a clean airflow to the fan. You could squeeze a bit more performance if you could clean that area up. Easy to do with tapered pieces of foam on either side, no extra weight other than the epoxy.
Is that an RC Lander fan?

Good thought - I too was concerned about the sharp edges - The black strip on the former is a rubber cockpit coming strip that is beveled. I'll look at it again after the thrust lbs. data - That being said; As Eric has pointed out - I may have to install the ducts. Ran the setup today at 80amps and 1800 watts - Still in one piece. As for the EDF: Bought the AC on RCC nib - Edf was handed to me assembled as a "CS new unit".
I can't confirm this (NO papers). I dis-assembled and balanced the fan and found no CS markings anywhere. The shroud however is a well made anodized two piece aluminum with lip - The fan closely resembles a JTM glass/nylon. The sled data will confirm my next course.//g.

Nice job, should look great in the air. I'd have to agree on what was said earlier re full ducting and efficiency, however since you've chosen to go with a changesun unit, open ducting with bell mouth is absolutely the way to go. A friend of mine flew one of these in a big foam F16 that topped out at 100-110mph so you should have decent performance.

And just a note about 'scale' flying that many people overlook, its not only about the speed the model fly's at, but also trying to be as smooth as possible. All too often I see pilots over controlling and being very jerky in their movements.

GTOW = 6.0 lbs. Thrust = 4.2 lbs. at 25.1v -
AC on soft rubber wheels sitting on a plywood down slope (zero/role ^).
Not bad #'s for static (under less than ideal test parameters) - So I took her out side for a run on the street (snow+ice covered). Aborted at half throttle because acceleration was very good and brisk (-7 degrees on ice). So, I held her straight up at 4' - Full throttle (now 3.88v) and it was buoyant.
I'm happy enough now to go ahead and do the install (foam fairings) to the forward motor bulkhead as suggested. Thnx//g.

I just want to thank my wife and Costco for providing an important part of the equation - (1kg. mixed nuts in a durable plastic jar with a 110mm screw top) - Even though I had to dig it out of the recycle bin -This item afforded me the geometry to turn a square into a round hole.
AC landing gear mod(s) withstood high speed frozen grass tundra tests and the engine mod looks ready for jump-jet performance.

Installed GWS yaw/heading gyro. Tested it in my Aviat E1s today with a 20km Xwind - Pretty good performance at 50% gain off the grass.
[I](Field firming up for a maiden next couple of weeks).

Not sure how much thrust this modified Hawk will produce on takeoff but the final static numbers are approx. -- 120+-amps // 2530+-watts on 6S (35c) lipo.

Hi Rick> Still unable to get a maiden due to nose gear structural failures during rough field high speed tests - One more fix and hopefully better results. The good news is the duct mods produce more than 1-1 thrust.
