Servo Extensions 1/4 scale

With larger wings on qtr scale planes is there any recommendation for servo leads as far as gauge

Checking the wiring in the wings currently looks like 26 gauge extensions.

Plane is Piper cub model and doubt it would be used for anything but cruising around at field in some of our fun fly events.

Thanks,
Paul

Re: Servo Extensions 1/4 scale

22 / 24 gauge wire is what I use on my bigger servos . I tried the silicone coated wire but don't like it because the silicone covering on the wire comes off very easy . Just from regular wear and tear you will have covering on the wires exposing bare wire if you are not careful .

Re: Servo Extensions 1/4 scale

thanks for feedback guys confirms my suspicions on 26 gauge concerns.

Mounting 15cc engine tonight to airframe and begin balancing model. No manuals came with purchase but suspect 1/3 of wing chord(approx.) or main spare would be reasonable start point for CG on this model.

Paul
There are tons of quarter scale J-3 models and modeler experience with center of gravity .... that should be available to you on various online forums.

for what it is worth, Sig's quarter scale kit of the J-3 has the center of gravity on the plans at 4.25" back from the leading edge of the wing at the fuselage, with the wing chord being 15&11/16"/39.8cm.

good luck,
