Hillman:
Were there any melted wires between the speed controller and the motor or the speed controller and the reciever ? Just wondering where the short actually was. If none of these wires were melted it would have to have been in the speed controller.

It looks to me like one of the micro chips in the speedcontrol caused the fire. I tried to take a pic but my digital camera won't focus on it as it's to small. I have flown it and everything is flawless with the new batt and speedcontrol except for my thumbs. Pancaked the gear off doing a Torque roll while trying to touch the rudder on the ground.

I'll tell you one thing I've learned. If I ever have a large electric plane and it goes in, I would check the batt and speed control outside in some sand or on asphalt out off the plane.

Was that touching the top of the rudder or the bottom I usually end up touching both wing tips too.

end off the rudder. It was a torque rolling tailslide. I actually pulled off 2 of them before the unpleasantness.
