Anti-skid Tape on a Compound Curved Surface

This evening, I was making up the anti-skid tape for the skids of my CH-139 and ran into a wall making it up for the struts. They have a double curve to them and a flat paper does not work at all, as I tried to bend the wet/dry paper around the strut while holding it in place with lots of Shoe-Goo. The edges buckled every time. I then tried glass beads and paint but the paint I chose dried too fast and it clumped up before I could brush it on the strut. So back to the tape and some thinking.

I took a new strip and put the end of my X-acto knife on the middle of the strip and then lifted the strip while allowing the handle to slide the length of the strip. As I lifted and applied pressure to the paper with the handle, the middle of the strip became distorted and took on a curve of its own. That allowed the strip to sit on the curved gear strut without any extra pressure. It was hard to get the picture but you might get the idea of what I did. If enough can't make it out, I will try and do it in video. The four strips took no effort to hold down and are setting up very nicely as I type this. Hope this gives you a hand in the future.
