Hi,
I have a question for anyone with the experiance. I have a plane that really is a performer when on wheels. But when I get it on the floats it is very heavy. I can get it in the air, with some work on the sticks. but it takes quite a distance. once its in the air it is a really good performer again.
I am using an 11x6. would going to a 10x7 help at all or should I go to an 11x5? Any suggestions would help

Thats a Sig Kavalier on Balsa USA floats It has a GMS .47 in it

The 11 X 5 should get it up on step quicker.

Do you find the aiplane seems to be sticking to the water?

Are the Balsa USA floats flat bottomed?

Hi Jim,
Yes the plane does seem to be stuck to the water I have to reef it off sometimes.and yes they are flat bottomed floats.

Looking at his avatar looks like to much incidence in the wing.

Looks like lots of positive, when the wing is ready to fly the nose of the floats being pushed into the water.

I would measure from the center line of the leading edge to the top of the float, and the center line of the trailing edge to the top of the float, and get the measurements very close or just a bit higher on the leading edge.

This should allow the floats to rotate.
