Out for a few more flights yesterday. I tried the flaps at 15º both at altitude and for landing. They do slow things down and at the speed I deploy them the ballooning effect is minimal; I don't think there's any need to mix in down elevator.

This time no cowl screws came loose... but two cowl mounts DID break off and two more were loose. I think I found the reason - contact between the muffler and cowl. Note the marks cause by the aluminum rubbing:




A relief cutout should solve that:




With a little epoxy around the edges to seal it up.




I am reattaching the mounts and I hope that this solves the problem.
