Apache 2500 Lipo Chgr question!

I just received an Apache 2500 Lipo Charger for Xmas. I bought a normal car charger as a power supply to power it. I cut off the alligator clips on both apachee and car charger and crimped on some new banana-type plugs.

The Car charger has 3 settings:
1) 12V/6 Amp (the one I've been trying)
2) 12V/2 Amp
3) 6V/6 Amp (Manual)

The Apache's red light will not stop blinking, indicating a CHG/ERR of some sort.

From reading several other forums I was under the impression that the Apache needed 10.5-15V and 5 Amps input. I have not plugged any Lipo's into the Apache yet.

Thanks for all your advice,

I would suspect that you should be using a 12 volt battery or proper power supply for the charger. I am sure others with more knowledge will chime in.

Yes Graham is correct, do not use the car battery charger as you may damage the lipo charger. You must use a regulated dc supply. What I did is convert a used pc supply, cost me nothing. The directions can be found here
http://www.rcbatteryclinic.com/ , or you can purchase one if messing around with power is not your thing (be careful out there )
