I am curious about what scale electric gliders people are flying.
Here are 2 that that I hope show up on the ARF market, the ASH 25,
and the Aeromot Ximango from Brazil.
I especially like the Ximango with the retracts !

Re: Scale motor gliders

Those 2 are nice, I always wanted one, ever since I saw this video, nice scenery too.
I guess I will have to settle for something more realistic!

Re: Scale motor gliders

I just took delivery of a DG-1000 from Tower Hobbies. Click HERE
I'm not sure the foam is all that "Scale" though...

Re: Scale motor gliders

Hi Nick

I had an escape from a kingkong thermal yesterday with my DG 1000,
5 clicks up from zero throttle deployed the motor to freewheel,
which I found was a handy spoiler.

A few mods on my DG 1000

-took a sharp blade and feathered all the trail edges
-used some poster board and micro balloons to make a sharp nose
-cut away all the internal canopy framing, looks better
-when you mount the stabilizer, I'd suggest mounting the control horn
at the inner, hole. THIS one is important because you may need lots
of trim due to slight bending of the tail boom--I had to shim up the LE
of my stab 1/32"
-sealed all control gaps with scotch tape
-painted bottom of airplane back for visibility
(I used acrylic, but will try enamel because this foam scratches easily)
-coated bottom of fuselage with epoxy paint

Flying
-I have ailerons and rudder coupled
-just before you throttle back for motor retraction, feed in down trim
(for 2 reasons, it needs it anyway because the CG changes, and the
burst of speed ensures the prop will go vertical)
