So I have a foamy that uses two ailerons an elevator and speed control on my RX . Now I have a micro 4 channel RX . I can mix on my radio but don't think I can use a rudder and aileron servo(channel) together. So does one solder up and shrink wrap a mini Y harness as a manufactured one is way to much wire and extra weight ?????

Handle every stressful situation like a dog.

If you can't eat it or hump it.

Pee on it and walk away.

How small a foamy is it? Is this an indoor type plane? If it's not a small indoor aerobat, I wouldn't worry too much about the weight of a y-harness.

Re: Y harness

HI hifly,

I'm slighty confused about what you want to achieve. Can't you just use a small Y-harness (I have a couple that are only a couple of inches long, minimal weight penalty in my opinion) or make one, in order to Y-harness your ailerons? You won't be able to mix your ailerons (ie/spoilerons/flaperons, etc), but unfortunately that's the downside of a 4ch Rx.

""I can mix on my radio but don't think I can use a rudder and aileron servo(channel) together."" Do you mean that you want to couple these channels to remove roll coupling in knife-edge? If so, that should be fairly easy with a computer radio, even with ailerons y-harnessed.

Let us know what you'd like.

What I was asking was it the norm to do what you said. I basically said the same thing using different words.

Re: Y harness

Almost every plane I own has several mixes programmed in order to remove unwanted tendencies. On my 88" Yak, I have a miniscule throttle->elevator mix, aileron->rudder, elevator->rudder, throttle curve, spoileron's, and flaperons.

So I apologize if I misconstrued your question. For your foamy, I say yes, y-harness your ailerons, and use as many mixes as required/available to get the plane flying like you want it to.

I have a Hitec Eclipse with the spectra module. and have numerous planes using a channel for elevator left and another for elevator right ,also same set up for ailerons. I have used a mix with aileron and rudder but prefer not to . I love the expo setup though. As Moo said I could buy another micro RX with 6 channels but that would mean another $30.00 plus shipping and this is only a $50. plane new with everything but the battery and RX.

Re: Y harness

I don't look at it that way, something more like, 'am I going to get $75 worth of use out of this 7g 7channel synthesized receiver?'

edit: cheaper and eight channels now
