Just wondering if anyone has flown with this engine and what problems they may have had. I am thinking of purchasing this motor and was wondering if anyone had some advice.I am thinking of puting it in a great planes escapade with a 11x6 prop.

Re: super tigre gs45

Well I have a couple of the ST 45's and find them to be a good and strong running engine. I purchased both used. One local and the other from a nice gentleman here on RCC.
Each has a few minor flaws from some previous crash damage but run great.
These were my first go at an ST and I've been very pleased and have run 10-6 10-7 11-5 11-6 11-7 props with out issue but felt the 10-6 a bit small.
I had one issue and that is the small screws that hold in the carb barrel tend to vibrate out. I'll be using something this year to hold them(nail polish most likely on the outside)
I looked up the Escapade and I would think that engine will be perfect for it.

Re: super tigre gs45

I have had a few SuperTigres as well . Those were .40 , .45 and .75

All great engines. They are a bit cheaper than OS and a bit heavier.

All mine were made in Italy and I had to back out the low speed needle about 3 turns since they were set up for the high altitude in Italy.

I here that is not needed now for the ones made in China.

I dont know how the quality is for them now being built off shore.

I know from talking to the owner of Great Planes in Toledo , that they are stock piled most parts for the .40 and .45 size Super Tigres. thatw as a couple of years ago just after ST moved . Things have probably changed now.
