Cool Sluggush Rustler

Hi All,

I have a Rustler VXL using an 8.4 volt 7 cell Nimh pack which charges to 10.2 volts when full. When I drive the truck, it is very slow and sluggush for the first few minutes and then the performance improves as the pack gets hot.

Can anyone suggest why the power does not come in at the beginning. It is as slow as a kids's toy for the first few mins and get stronger. I have 2 identical Intellect packs and the issue is the same with both.

Cycled the packs and run them both a few time, but no improvement.

Please help.

Talking Re: Sluggush Rustler

yea may have one dead cell when charging feel if all the sells are the same warmth is so you alright if one cell gets warmer then the other that would be a bad cell what happens is the rest may all take full charge but that one bad cell is stoping the complete 8.4 v from comming out i have a venom 5000mah 8.4 also hump style pack doing the same thing and the hump cell on the top would get really hot conpaired to the rest off the cell thus makeing it crap i took that cell off now a 7.2v packs absolutly awsome pack

Re: Sluggush Rustler

Is this happening when you are running it now? I

n our -5 degree weather? If so i have found this to be a issue with my Slash as well, Cold battery packs don't produce as well as warm ones. I typically will run my pack under the heat gun for a few seconds to get the juices flowing then run it.

Re: Sluggush Rustler

Thanks Guys for your posts.

I shelled out for 2 x 7.2V lipos, 5100 Mah.

Now - the thing goes like a bullet - amazing difference. Guess the guy I bought
it from was not aware that the 2 Nimh packs he sold me were fried.

Can't imagine how this thing must move with the 3 cell Lipo packs!!

Now I see what all the hype about the Rustler VXL is all about. What a fun toy.
