Hopefully tomorrow night I can get the cowl glued onto the rings.
Those octagonal ply pieces ...... some more special stuff from Durrant?

Got any extra or will Durrant sell them to other people?

What else do you have up your sleave?

No, these aren't from Durant - I cut them out on the scroll saw tonight from a sheet of 1/8" light ply. All 16 of them took me pretty much the whole night to do, but they look a little different than normal square blocks, so I figured it was worth it!

I did the same on Wingburner's 43% 300 and my 40% Edge and they seem to be working out well so far (I've yet to see or hear of one letting go from the cowl, since they are GOOP'd in place).

Cheers

Trev

Jeez a STYX lyric comes to mind!....................

"I got to much time on my hands..."

Oh you might be too young to know who STYX are!

4-40 countersunk bolts or some of the button head bolts from Toledo?

Ya, ya... too much time on my hands!! I'm not a big fan of STYX!!

They are button head bolts with the little plastic washers you picked up for me in Toledo!

I also picked up some black ones since it will tie in better with Jack's airbrushed scheme on the cowl and hatch!!

Hey those are fightin words bud. What you got against them anyways. Really surprized you know WHO they are you young buck!

Did you order the black button head from Micro-Fastners or did you try Fastenal?

Ohhhhh black eh. Now you are starting to give away a bit of the colour scheme.

Hey I saw a great idea on a freinds recto 40% 300 build..... Don't want to say to much as he has not unveiled it yet but think of the Christen Eagle colour scheme...... on an Extra 300. Damn I said to much already but thankfully he is not on RCC too much. Thee BBT initials would work for him as well so that's a hint to who it is.

Re: 126" Carden Extra 260 w/DA170 RE3

A bit of progress tonight! I got the cowl trimmed out (including air exit hole in the bottom) and glued onto the cowl rings with Marine Goop!

Because the 43%ers have the cowl ring tight against the fuse (no more 3/32 signiture gap between fuse and cowl), you need to put some waxed paper behind the cowl rings (see first picture).

I'll take it apart tomorrow once it dries and we'll see how it turned out! It sure feels flush through the tape!

Sounds good Jim!! You`re right - We don`t want critters making any nests in and around Jack`s mighty DA170. They`d get quite the scare when the big twin gets fired up!!
