There is an ongoing thread on Heli Freak about a lipo pack that burst and caused a house fire.

I won't get in to the details but I will say that the gentleman involved is a very classy person and has really helped to bring to light the risks of charging lipos. not leave your lipo packs unattended when charging them. PLEASE....purchase or build a container to charge your lipos in. I can't imagine the fear/guilt I would feel if I ever caused a fire in my home and risked my family. I charge in a lipo sack and NEVER leave my lipos while charging. PLEASE do the same for you and your family.

If I have offended anyone in posting this...I am truly sorry for showing concern for all of your safety.

Re: LIPO safety

This is only good common sense..NEVER leave a lithium unattended while charging it.
Handled properly, they are very safe, but a mistake is catastrophic.
and we ALL make mistakes sometimes no matter how careful we are.

Re: LIPO safety

To much cross posting Jody. It's nice to have one discussion instead of several. Let's just stick to the thread you started in the main forum.

I respectfully suggest any further discussion be posted in the main forum thread on the same topic.

Re: LIPO safety

I found an online guide with a ton of great info. There is a lot to read but there is a ton of great stuff to learn.I did a Google and found the people that sell battery bunkers. I will probably get one. Approximately how heavy are they though? Is it a pain to drag to the field or is that not an issue?

I just use an old metal box. I'm sure you can find a metal tool box at CDN tire for 20 bucks. It's well worth the piece of mind for me.
