Angus,

I bet you have pulled the trigger if they had a "Mastercraft" edition.

Lemme know, I can make you up some labels if you like

Re: New big block engine on the way for the Firebird!!!

If that thing puts a crater in something(on Canadian soil), I would guess that MAAC would put a large dent with regards to the use and safety of turbine powered aircrafts. Figure it out it's made of balsa and fibreglass(and a little bondo), and of course it's in the hands of a model airplane pilot. Someting got to give. Hope not for the sake of this hobby and the rest of us.

If Tom Cook thinks thats not too much engine for that airframe, I would listen to Tom Cook. His Bondo buggies have a way of staying together...

Jeremy is an experienced modeler used to flying fast jets. The sky isnt going to fall... not until 2012 anyhow

Re: New big block engine on the way for the Firebird!!!

It's not about Tom Cook's products(maybe a little) or Jeremy, it's about MAAC and our freedom to fly turbine aircrafts in Canada.

And, that freedom allows us to buy a kit from a major, top end manufacturer, and a turbine from one of the worlds oldest and best, and fly them at jet events, clubs or private land.

WHat exactly is Jeremy doing that worries you? Its a model designed to take the stress of a large engine when flown in a manner respective of the power and speed the combo is capable of.

Maybe I misunderstand you - but what exactly is the problem? What MAAC jet guidelines are being broken?

I have to agree we should be very carefull with the freedom MAAC allows us.
You know what worries me most;
the boasting about I have the biggest/ fastest and the prospective of an overconfident pilot finishing this freedom for us all. NO MATTER how good he is !
What will MAAC do if we have a "supercool" turbine jet showing off 280 mph on a public show having a problem ?
Ain't gonne happen ?
I hope not because I love flying jets AND I like other people enjoy their jets.

AJC <--- jet committee member, and I believe Jeremy is as well (or was).
