Riddick - the plane came with a LiPO battery (3200 mAh) It also comes with a charger but you need a power supply for the charger soo.... power supply is connected to charger which connects to battery
Hopes this clears stuff up

1) how $$much$$ and
2) what is the rated amperage of that PS?

I use a Marine battery at the field, (660 amp.) and use a Hobbico 11.5 amp power supply, and a 20 amp Ripmax for my battery chargers at home. Be carefull of basic conveters (12v/110v) as they are not always well regulated and some chargers can get fussy with them.
An automobile battery is OK but they are not designed for a continuous draw, as it a Marine or RV battery.
The charger determines the amp draw, up to the capacity of the power supply. So a 3 amp draw is OK with a power supply rated at 10 amps.
