I really don't know how much longer I will be in the Forces, but not very concerned either. After 25 years of service, I am nearing the end of my time in uniform.

Re: Moving to Halifax any RC nutz out there?

My cousin Larry had the same opinion, until he got an offer to re-up. He started out as an electrician and got so good at it they wanted to make him an instructor.

He turned down the posting, so they shipped him off to CFB Pleasantvile in St. John's NF. That wasn't punishment for him --closer to his family and an interesting and varied job. Not too much in the way of stupid rules to abide by until they went through de-unification and with a month left in the posting (base being closed) he was informed that de-unification had kicked in and the job was RCN not Army, and there was a must-attend event coming up. Yep! New Naval uniform with whatever is the equivalent to his rank.

Of course, the problem with leaving the miltary is that the dress code for work is not as simple as it was before. If you do leave, make sure that you a morning fashion-parade for your wife and kids so they can tell you if you've selected the wrong clothing.

Enjoy the posting, it's a great place for natural scenery.

If you make it down there in time, do check out the Natal Day Parade. With the usual luck of the military, you'll probably be getting a free pass to keep you position in the parade......
