trying to recover

I have an older model previously covered in silk and dope(I think) I removed the old brittle and damaged covering, did some repairs, sanded lightly and tried to recover in ultracote. But 1 problem, the material would only stick until it cooled and then come right off! Is there something that needs to be done to the surface after dope has been applied for a long time or am I wasting my time? Any replies would be greatly appreciated! Terry.

Re: trying to recover

I did exactly the same thing a few months ago and did not have any problem. Ultracote sticks well to any clean surface. Did you use a tack rag or alcohol?

Since mine was an amphib I also sealed the edges with a brush on adhesive beforehand.
I know there's money in aviation........I put it there!
