Based on some previous expert posts and advises ( prime lift area) it's best for me ( and my health ) to cancel my RC-Canada Glider contributions.

Re: Alberta Slope Patrol guide

Is there still any slope flying in Edmonton over the summer season ?
Or is the wind not there when it's warmer?

Re: Alberta Slope Patrol guide

Slope can happen any day the winds are from the west or south, Less chance of flying from an eastern blow and not really worth the trouble if it is coming from the north. I always have my alula packed but any glider in the 20 ounce range will do the trick with a 20 km/h wind. The locals also join in once in a while. I usually head to Terwillegar when winds are from the west.

Nice to see that East winds are good for something.

Re: Alberta Slope Patrol guide

Hi Bob, Sailing is just another form of soaring to me. The wing is the thing i guess. I also recently bought a parkzone kA8 to do some scale thermal flying.

Re: Alberta Slope Patrol guide

I recently bought a 3m Seagull Ka8-B to try some aero tow. Lots of fun but you need a good pilot on the tow plane. Its very close to scale realism on tow and after release. Now to get a variometer so I can tell when I hit the thermals.

Cool DHansen! I've been toying with the sail boat idea for some time now. Just found a guy locally that does it so... it just could happen!

There are a couple of possible east facing hills out here that I haven't tried yet but any north facing ones have too shallow of a slope & are tree covered.

There is a pretty good north west facing one with a bowl that I have used quite a bit though.

Re: Alberta Slope Patrol guide

I just put in an order for a thunder tiger victoria. Going to build it stock as per rules for silver class racing and sport sailing. The VIC has a large following and is easy to transport, unlike my 6 foot Vela. Cost is about 150 plus the guts.
