ka8

Couple of pictures of my Parkzone KA8 with Alister Flieswell sitting at the controls. I bought the pnp kit but would recommend the bnf version as the hobby shops do not stock the matching bits that would come with the full version at this time. Glider goes together very easily and there is very little to do out of the box. At this time I am considering replacing the wheel with a skid.

Re: Alberta Slope Patrol guide

A Picture snapped at my favorite spot yesterday flying the alula.
The second picture shows me in my hat and sunglasses. Up till a few years ago I never ever ever wore any kind of hat nor sunglasses, But reality is do everything you can to protect you're eyes from sun damage and other things floating or flying up passed you on the slope. And the hat guards against sunburn on the top of your lid which is a whole other kind of misery to deal with.

CARFF was considering doing another aerotow event in September, your KA8 sure would look nice following a tow plane. Whatcha think Dale?

Re: Alberta Slope Patrol guide

Not much chance of that, I only sporadically keep up my MAAC insurance, and I had been involved in fullsized aerotow gliders in my years with the 874 Tiger Moth cadet squadron in my teens so it's not quite the same to me.

Re: Alberta Slope Patrol guide

Just finished my latest sloper project - a Windrider Bee 2, 48 in. slope combat wing. I had this kit sitting around here for quite some time while deciding exactly what to do with it. I finally came up with some ideas.
Among other things, the Bee has a KK2 control board flashed with OpenAero software. I wanted to try this board to get a stable camera platform and yes, tinker around with the software settings. The stabilization functions are switch controlled from the Tx.
The Bee has curved cf spars and is covered with 5 mil laminating film over which coloured econocote was applied... leftovers from previous projects... (I must have too much time on my hands). Finished glider weight is around 30 ounces.
I also provided the option of converting the Bee over to a future full FVP platform. A pod housing the motor, esc, 3 cell 2650 ma lipo, video transmitter and camera can be bolted onto the bottom of the wing to facilitate this.
I case you don't already know this... HK sells this kit as the Wing Warrior.
I'll try to shoot some video of the Bee flying and post it on this thread. In the meantime, here's a couple of photos for you guys to peruse...
