This is one of the best sims out there and is compatablel with your radio (make sure you get the right adapter that suits the DX5e)

I started by using FMS with my DX5e.
FMS is a free simulator available here. Connect the DX5e to the PC using a cable from ebay. Search eBay for FMS CABLE. I payed $8 for my cable, shipping included. Works like a charm |

Re: Please help me want to acquire SIM for my dx5e
If it works for DX5e, I don't see any reason for not working with DX6i. If it was me, I wouldn't hesitate to buy it, just make sure it works with Spektrum.
I have a DX7 and I can give it a try and post the result sometime tomorrow. |

Re: Please help me want to acquire SIM for my dx5e
I just tested my cable and it works fine with DX5e and DX7. I don't have a DX6i to test.
I bought the cable from eBay, seller "abeyerr" and it was called "FMS Simulator USB Cable Adapter for Esky". It comes with a CD with the FMS software. FMS software can also be downloaded from here and it can be used with a keybord until you get your cable. Also, I searched on google and found few other guys posted models they created for this simulator and I downloaded those and installed in the FMS simulator as well. Some of them worked, some didn't. Here is one page with FMS models. Just download the zip file for the model you want, and unzip it in the folder "C:\Program Files\FMS\Model" then you will be able to see that new model in the FMS simulator interface. If you installed the FMS in a different location, unzip into that new location in the "new location\FMS\model" folder. Florin Last edited by Florin; 10-05-2010 at 06:13 PM. |

Re: Please help me want to acquire SIM for my dx5e
Thanks Florin...if wrorks with you DX5 and 7 I'm sure it will work with my 6i. I'm not sure if I like the look of FMS thought, I'll probably buy Phoenix this winter.

Re: Please help me want to acquire SIM for my dx5e
My Dx5e jack for the simulator plug has never worked properly with realflight 3 or 4. Horizon replaced the first one, but the second one did the same thing.
Be careful, but I guess free & $8 means you can try something else with little sunk cost.

Re: Please help me want to acquire SIM for my dx5e
Last time I checked, there was a bit more "Spektrum" planes for the RealFlight simulator than Phoenix. It's expensive, but it does come with a USB controller. Trust me, this is a plus, because otherwise, you keep having to charge your real controller. You can still interface it though, if you want the real feeling, but personally, the USB controller is fine. It should even run on your notebook as it's not too power hungry. (check first though)
