Mounted the EVO 46 and carved down an 11/7 prop for clearance. Did basically the same thing with the Seamaster years ago. I originally tried a 3-bladed prop, but testing with some of my other planes showed a serious reduction in thrust over a 2-blade.

What may have added more weight was the universal motor mount, since all of mine that fit the different 40's were slightly too narrow for the EVO.

Note: The EVO is slightly heavier, but far stronger than even the 40FSR I originally had bolted there. I went and did some checking and found the OS46 was nearly the same weight. I guess the 55 is supposed to be identical to the 46, but could not find one and had the pair of EVO's. The other needed new bearings and that done will likely be tried in the nose of the Eagle 2 which is getting a set of floats. The mounting change for that one is easy as I can fab up a new plate with a couple of layers of ply in a few minutes. Takes longer for the fuelproofing paint to dry.
I know there's money in aviation........I put it there!

Re: The USCG Has Arrived

Thanks for the info. I kinda figured the 3 blade prop would take away too much power. Great point on the mount. I'll have to remember that

I might just try an OS 46FXi that I have just to see what the differnce is.

I'll keep following your progress and will post results on mine.

That Polaris is very tempting...
