Re: Ryobi 31 cc

CH do sell a kit that converts the stock ignition to an electronic set up and includes a nicely done prop drive .
However you still end up with a cheap engine turned out by the thousands with anemic compression which normally needs an electric starter to spin it fast enough to start it.
The conversion isnt cheap, and you will probably want a new muffler (Bisson make one) .
I have converted several and I would not buy another electronic ignition conversion since there are now so many good gas engines available in this displacement range designed for the purpose.
However if you want to do the manual conversion a la original article in the magazines and shave the flywheel for a little weight loss you will end up with a surprisingly reliable engine with enough power for very little $ and I have even seen these engines used in begginer IMAC competition.
Be forewarned these are long engines with the carb and muffler on the back of the jug and will probably dictate that you move the firewall of the model back to accomodate.
