Great planes ARF 81" piper cub

I just read from some older rc site that the Great Planes ARF piper cub had issues with its wing strut hinges breaking after just a few flights. The site was dated 2004. Anybody have problems with the wing struts? Also I read something about the dreaded ground loop? Im getting nervous as i'm almost finished just waiting on the threaded brass inserts for the wing struts.

Re: Great planes ARF 81" piper cub
I have not had any issues with the wing struts to date with mine BUT I did soak both ends of the hinges with thin CA. Then I drilled and installed a small blind nut and bolt through each strut hinge to hold them firmly in place.
I also used the threaded brass inserts in the strut attachment points on the wings and fuselage. Better to be safe rather than sorry.
As far as ground looping... nothing major to report with this plane. You will however have to use the rudder to guide it straight down the runway. Just don't oversteer and don't panic.
Just throttle up slowly for the first flight or two.... with the .55AX that you are using, you will be airbourne quickly anyway.
My Cub ground handles nice, way nicer than my Tango
You can fly Hitec or use the other "low tech" stuff!!
