Hi guys
I'm planning to get floats for my cessna so that I can take it to boating next time. I checked my local hobby store and they have floats for .20 .40 & .60 planes. I'm not sure about which size would fit my plane well. But it should be an easy question for all you experts.
here is the link to the plane, (55'' wing span)

Re: Floats for my air field cessna 172?

Before a suggestion, a question for you.

In view of the blurb says that this plane is for all levels of flyers - from rank beginner to 3D expert, as it's capable of extreme aerobatics. ("This plane is made for users of all levels." and "soar through the sky, even in windy conditions. Do 3D aerobatic maneuvers..." and "Perfect for all levels: Beginners, Middle-level users, or Experienced Pilots..." as well as "3D Aerobatic Performance". WOW!!!) at what level are you as a pilot?

If it really is a 3D plane, it may be a bit much for a beginner on floats. If it is not really a 3D plane and you are a beginner, it may be disappointing on either wheels or floats.

Personally, from what I see, IMO, it is neither a 3D nor a great beginner plane. As a float plane? Maybe, only if you are experienced.

Scale planes usually make lousy beginner planes for a number of reasons. Putting them on floats does not improve things. And 3D it just is not ("Strong wing designed for smooth airflow providing exceptional stability"). There's more to that than simply installing excess power.

Re: Floats for my air field cessna 172?

Hi Do
I guess I'm a alright flyer. I've flying this plane for about 20-30times in a parking lot near my house. It's just that summer is comming and me and my buddy goes boating a lot. So I'm thinking of getting a float kit to convert it to a watercraft. I am actually considering that the power will not be enough. I guess I'll see how it goes, and if not successful, I'll take out the power system and put it onto a boat made by myself.
