Re: Toronto RC Heli Club 2010 FF!! July 24-25th
Well the event today was fantastic!! Just rolled in from the after party at Mike Wilson's (huge thanks to Mike and family!), and need to do it all again tomorrow, so I will keep this short for now.
We had an excellent turnout with 43 registered pilots despite getting a bit wet in the later afternoon, glad I got the shelter finished in time. Flying was off the hook. Nik from RC-TV was present to get coverage of the event, competitions, and lots of freestyle. Those that had held off due to the sketchy forecast be sure to show up Sunday for the event of the season! Sunshine all day, great tunes, great friends, great free food and water, pilots draw has been held off till Sunday and the table was packed with great prizes. Obstacle course & 3D competition are done but the auto contest will still be open. Last but certainly not least, the raffle for the Mikado Logo 600 3D Kit is still open. Things will get underway about 9am on Sunday, come have a great time, bring a few bucks to support the club and you will certainly not go home empty handed. Thanks to everybody that attended today, you make the hobby as great as it is! See you all tomorrow! ![]() Darren Christopher Toronto R/C Heli Club |

Re: Toronto RC Heli Club 2010 FF!! July 24-25th
Well....I must say I couldn’t be happier that the event went off as well as it did, It was awesome!! Flying was off the hook with our local talent, Team bob00, Diego, (ponytail) Mike, Eugeny, Ayhab, Paul P,.... and I saw a lot more beginner and intermediate participation that I was hoping for as well.
Winston kept the fires burning and crowd enthused with his big turbines and smooth style to compliment. Zig and team Rotor RC showed up right at the end with a giant 1/5th scale electric Lama and put on a nice display. Nik from RC-TV was kind enough to do a couple spots of early footage on Sat that will hopefully generate even more awareness and interest into the sport. Thanks to all above for their participation. Everyone seemed to have lots of fun, enjoyed the company, and hung in like troopers when the sky got a bit wet Sat afternoon. Like I said, all you guys are what makes this such a fantastic sport and our club what it is, totally making all the efforts to bring it all together worthwhile. We had 50 registered pilots and about 150 spectators. Big thanks to everyone that attended! A very special thanks needs to go out to Mike Wilson and family, Dion & Beverly for hosting such a grand feast and opening their home to all of us for the after party, which BTW fed the entire crowd on Sunday with the leftovers from the BBQ. Many other supporters that assisted The Toronto R/C Helicopter Club to make the event & all the prizes possible are: Advance RC Pinnacle Hobby A&J Hobbies Extreme Helicopters Inc. Horizon Hobby Great Planes Byron Fuels Quick UK Hobby Hobby RC Flight Store Previdsa Carpentry Mike Wilson Robert Gayle David Chu Paul Previdas Yury Karyuk Bhushan Deshpande Gary Breithaupt If you missed it this year be sure to put it on the calendar for next year, as it can only get bigger and better from here. Lots of pics to come. Thanks everyone!! Darren Christopher President |
