Fox Engines

I have a Fox 40 size engine, known as a standard hich is a ball bearing type engine that I bought maybe 16 or 17 years ago. I happened to let it run lean one time and it seized and pulled the con rod apart. I packaged it up and sent back to Fox for repair, they fixed it free of charge which I thought was pretty good of them.

I recently got it out of storage after having not run for 13 or so years. It was gummed up from after run oil and would not turn over. I soaked it in lacquer thinner and it freed it up pretty good but the carb was still sticky, so I sent it back to Fox again. Just talked to them on the phone, repair cost was $20, pretty reasonable I thought. Will see how it runs when it gets back.

Fox engines are not the prettiest out there but I have no complaints how they stand behind them and customer service is great.

Re: Fox Engines

That's pretty good service for an engine that is almost 20 years old!!!

Re: Fox Engines

I have the 50 which sat in storage on a plane for 20+ years. With proper treatment nothing was required except replacing all the fuel lines. Resurrected the plane last fall and fired it back up for the first time last November.

True, Fox motors are a little rough around the edges, but run very strong. Now I just have to try and reduce the noise level. Don't know about yours, but Fox motors are a bit louder than most.
I know there's money in aviation........I put it there!
